Overview

GOAL
Create Alamo’s first app for creating and tracking reservations.

ROLE
Lead UX Designer post launch, Analytics (Team of 3 UXers)

KEY PROBLEMS TO SOLVE
Use the previous work on the Enterprise Rent-A-Car App (Alamo is owned by Enterprise) as a foundation, then tweak those designs to address Alamo’s unique design challenges. For example the Alamo renter tends to travel less frequently and be more budget minded.

The home screen doesn’t try and do multiple things. It switches from featuring ‘starting a reservation’ if they have no rental to displaying an upcoming rental if they have one.

This keeps it simple for infrequent users.

Alamo is a brand oriented towards an infrequent renter so designed focused on first time use. This meant clarity and guidance were prioritized over advanced actions and shortcuts.
